# Getting Started on Testnet

ZEUS Exchange is currently available on the Base Sepolia testnet. This allows users to explore the full trading interface, test all core mechanics, and get familiar with the platform before the mainnet launch, without using real funds.

All tokens on the testnet have no real market value and cannot be transferred, bridged, or converted to mainnet assets. Testnet activity does not affect mainnet balances or positions.

### What you need <a href="#what-you-need" id="what-you-need"></a>

To get started on the ZEUS Exchange testnet you need three things:

* A self custodial browser wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby.
* The Base Sepolia network added and selected in your wallet.
* A small amount of test ETH to pay for gas fees.

### Step 1. Install a wallet <a href="#step-1-install-a-wallet" id="step-1-install-a-wallet"></a>

If you do not have a wallet yet, install MetaMask or Rabby as a browser extension. Both wallets are free and support the Base Sepolia network.

After installation, create a new wallet and securely save your seed phrase. Never share your seed phrase with anyone, including the ZEUS Exchange team.

### Step 2. Add Base Sepolia to your wallet <a href="#step-2-add-base-sepolia-to-your-wallet" id="step-2-add-base-sepolia-to-your-wallet"></a>

Open your wallet settings and add a new network manually using the following parameters:

| Parameter | Value |
| --------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Network name | Base Sepolia |
| RPC URL | [https://sepolia.base.org](https://sepolia.base.org/) |
| Chain ID | 84532 |
| Currency symbol | ETH |
| Block explorer | [https://sepolia-explorer.base.org](https://sepolia-explorer.base.org/) |

Alternatively, visit chainlist.org, search for Base Sepolia or chain ID 84532, and click "Add to MetaMask". This adds the network automatically without manual input.

After adding the network, make sure it is selected as the active network in your wallet before connecting to ZEUS Exchange.

### Step 3. Get test ETH <a href="#step-3-get-test-eth" id="step-3-get-test-eth"></a>

Gas fees on Base Sepolia are paid in test ETH. You can request test ETH for free from any of the following public faucets:

| Faucet | URL |
| --------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------- |
| Coinbase Developer Faucet | <https://portal.cdp.coinbase.com/products/faucet> |
| Alchemy Base Sepolia Faucet | <https://www.alchemy.com/faucets/base-sepolia> |

Request a small amount. Gas fees on Base Sepolia are minimal and a standard faucet allocation is sufficient for extended testing. If one faucet is unavailable, try another from the list.

### Step 4. Connect to ZEUS Exchange testnet <a href="#step-4-connect-to-zeus-exchange-testnet" id="step-4-connect-to-zeus-exchange-testnet"></a>

1. Open the ZEUS Exchange interface at app.zeustrade.io.
2. Make sure your wallet is set to the Base Sepolia network.
3. Click "Connect Wallet" in the top right corner and select your wallet.
4. If prompted, approve switching to Base Sepolia in your wallet.

Once connected, your test ETH balance will appear in the wallet indicator at the top of the interface.

### Step 5. Get test tokens <a href="#step-5-get-test-tokens" id="step-5-get-test-tokens"></a>

After connecting your wallet, navigate to the faucet section on the platform to receive test versions of supported tokens such as BTC, ETH, and USDC. These tokens are minted specifically for testnet use and carry no real value.

Use these tokens as collateral to open positions, provide liquidity to the ZLP pool, or test the swap functionality.

### What you can test <a href="#what-you-can-test" id="what-you-can-test"></a>

The testnet gives you access to the full ZEUS Exchange interface. You can try:

* Spot swaps between all supported assets.
* Opening and closing leveraged long and short positions with up to 30x leverage.
* Market orders and limit orders for position entry.
* Stop loss and take profit orders on open and new positions.
* Adding and withdrawing collateral on existing positions.
* Minting ZLP tokens and providing liquidity to the pool.
* Minting a Soulbound Token to explore the Epoch participation and rewards system.

### Troubleshooting <a href="#troubleshooting" id="troubleshooting"></a>

**The interface does not load or shows an error.**\
Make sure your wallet is set to Base Sepolia and not to Ethereum mainnet or another network. Refresh the page after switching networks.

**My transaction is pending for a long time.**\
Base Sepolia can occasionally experience congestion or downtime. Wait a few minutes and check the transaction status on the block explorer at [https://sepolia-explorer.base.org](https://sepolia-explorer.base.org/) using your wallet address.

**I ran out of test ETH.**\
Request more from any of the faucets listed in Step 3. Faucets typically allow one request per address per 24 hours.

**A feature I want to test is not available.**\
Some features may be temporarily disabled or under active development on testnet. Check the official ZEUS Exchange channels for the latest updates on feature availability.

### Important notes <a href="#important-notes" id="important-notes"></a>

* Testnet contracts and parameters may be updated or redeployed without prior notice.
* Oracle prices on testnet may behave differently from mainnet due to the use of test price feeds.
* Performance and execution behavior on testnet do not guarantee equivalent behavior on mainnet.
* Testnet balances, positions, and SBTs are not carried over to mainnet.

This environment is provided for testing and exploration only. It does not constitute an offer of financial services or an invitation to invest.
